17 July 2024 – The Kelantan State Government through Kelantan Utilities Mubaarakan Holdings Sdn Bhd (KUM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Japanese company, Japan Orchid Inc (J.Orchid), to develop an Integrated Solid Waste Disposal Site Project and Carbonisation Facility in Tanah Merah.
The Chairman of the State Public Works, Infrastructure, Water and Rural Development Committee, Datuk Dr Izani Husin, said the MoU was sealed between KUM and J.Orchid today.
According to him, the collaboration between KUM and J.Orchid began in 2023 when the Japanese company presented a project proposal paper in a discussion session with KUM and its subsidiary, Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal Mubaarakan Sdn Bhd (PSPM).
